Altitude was founded in 2014 by Craig Semple. After years working in Edinburgh roofing, Craig had seen the same problem on every job: contractors hiring scaffold and access equipment, then passing the cost — plus the wait — to the homeowner.
He started Altitude with one principle: own the equipment. The cherry picker and rope access gear sit in our yard, ready to go. That single decision changes everything downstream — quotes are £400–£800 lower than scaffold-based competitors, jobs start within 1–2 weeks instead of 3–4, and we control the schedule because no third party does.
Ten years on, we're a five-person Edinburgh team that has completed over 500 jobs across the city — Victorian tenements in Marchmont, Georgian townhouses in the New Town, post-war semis in Corstorphine, harbourside flats in Leith, conservation-area listed buildings in Stockbridge.
