Rydal Lodge is a listed building situated in the conservation area of Rydal. An area of outstanding natural beauty in the heart of the English Lake District. Parts of the house date back to 1600 when it was used as the Rydal Coaching Inn. The Lodge sits in extensive gardens and grounds extending to the River Rothay, which flows through the grounds on its way from Rydal Water to Lake Windermere. The beautiful Rydal Water is only 150 metres away. This was a great favourite of William Wordsworth, whose home at Rydal Mount is only 300 metres away. Dora’s Field, dedicated to the memory of Wordsworth’s daughter is just across the road. The village is an ideal centre for touring the Lake District or walking holidays. The Fairfield Horseshoe, the Coffin Trail, Loughrigg Fell and lake-walks surround the Lodge. A bus stop outside the Lodge connects to all the main Lake District destinations and beyond.
The Lodge offers a range of comfortable rooms with en-suite or private facilities as well as Suites. All rooms have television and hospitality trays, which are replenished as required. Suites have extra hospitality features.
The Snug is a cosy lounge with wood burner, next to the licensed bar. Free Wi Fi is available in this area. Breakfast is served in the elegant dining room, which overlooks the gardens and River Rothay. Full English or Continental breakfast options are available.
In summer the riverside garden seating provides an idyllic setting in which to relax. The Garden Coffee Bar provides espresso coffee, snacks and teas.
Packed lunches are available on request and can be ordered the night before.
