Sulgrave Manor is the ancestral home of George Washington, the only building left that is known to have been both built by and inhabited by the direct ancestors of America's first President. It also has the distinction of being the only property, perhaps in the world, that is "owned" by the peoples of two nations. Built in the middle of the 16th century, with an early Georgian wing and 3 acres of beautiful gardens designed by the renowned architect Sir Reginald Blomfield (who also designed some of the war graves after the Great War), the house is shown by experienced, informative and light hearted guides. The Manor is also a registered museum and holds the largest collection of George Washington memorabilia in the UK.
