An algorithm that generates random numbers is known as a random number generator (RNG). These random numbers are used in video games to determine random outcomes, such as your chance of scoring a critical hit or finding a rare item. Many contemporary video games have random number generation, or RNG, as a key component. They're the reason you encounter different Pokemon every time, objects in Mario Kart change every time you pick them up, and really awesome loot can appear at any time in Diablo (or not). Without RNG, some procedurally generated games, such as The Binding of Isaac or Minecraft, simply would not be possible. Not all games rely on RNG. A good example are rhythm games like Dance Dance Revolution or Guitar Hero. Additionally, competitive multiplayer games like Mortal Kombat and Rocket League essentially lack unpredictability. Not all competitive games must forgo RNGs, though. RNG is used in DOTA 2 to decide how frequently abilities will effect opponents and in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive to determine how bullets will hit targets. The gameplay contains a random component that makes it unpredictable. We install RNG systems in apps and video games.
