Portland House self catering holiday accommodation is set proudly in the village of Whitchurch, 3 miles from Monmouth and 7 miles from Ross on wye, uniquely placed in the Wye Valley near Monmouth (3 miles) and Ross on Wye (7 miles) in an area of outstanding natural beauty. Whitchurch is adjacent to the famous Symonds Yat Rock and Gorge on the outskirts of the Forest of Dean. There’s plenty of glorious countryside and scenery to explore. The River Wye is just five minutes away on foot where fishing and canoeing can be enjoyed. The house is less than 5 mins from the official route of The Wye Valley Walk, so wonderful walks direct from the door and there’s a large box full of documented walks in the lounge for the whole area. The house has a wealth of character plus a fascinating history; the oldest part of the house is Georgian (1676) - not overly large but very spacious to feel relaxed and comfortable, and especially cosy during the autumn and winter months. In the spring/ summer you can relax on the terrace and enjoy a BBQ in the garden, or during autumn/winter relish a log fire in the large lounge; as well as enjoy the elegant dining room for dinner cooked on the Aga. There’s elegant and adaptable accommodation over 7 bedrooms. Day room on the ground floor can double up as a double or treble bedroom. Good choice of eateries/pubs – 4 in walking distance, and also an all day breakfast diner. Outside catering can be pre-booked for celebrations. Wonderful local shop, Woods of Whitchurch, which provides your welcome hamper on arrival. 10 minutes drive from a variety of golf courses. 4 golf courses within 20 minutes drive.
