Welcome to The Liverpool Actors Studio – the friendliest most intimate fringe venue in Liverpool. English Rice Productions are writers and producers of theatrical events, shows and performances for theatres, arts venues and the corporate industry. They specialise in working with local communities and young people to develop workshops, community theatre and musical shows utilizing drama, dance and music. Please come in and say hello, we are a friendly bunch! We are the secret well of talent boiling under the surface of central Liverpool … “Where is this theatrical Promised Land?!” I hear you shout! Amongst the building site which has consumed this wonderful city, between the cranes that mark the horizon, tucked away at the bottom of Seel Street is what many are hailing as the saviour of fringe theatre. We are in a building steeped in artistic history that was once home to the renowned sculptor Arthur Dooley, and week after week we are staging cutting edge theatre from straight plays to musicals, comedy to variety … you name it we’re doing it! Amongst our many friends and supporters we can boast the best in Merseyside Talent, including Ricky Tomlinson, Willy Russell and the Squire of Knotty Ash himself, the King of Comedy, Ken Dodd. Together we are all committed to providing entertainment of all genres, as well as help for all the local writers, directors, performers and technical staff to showcase their talent. Our team are all dedicated to giving you the best night out in the theatre – we want you to feel at home and enjoy our comfortable little venue.
