Introduction Course Time 10am – 4:00pm Cost £180 The Introduction to Framing Course provides you with an in-depth beginner’s course. During the introduction to picture framing course you will be taken through the whole process of planning and designing your picture. You will be shown how to measure your picture and fill out a plan, how to bevel cut the mountboard, make the oak picture frame, cut the glass and the final assembling of the picture to conservation standards. The day will consist of a number of demonstrations of each stage of the framing process. Participants will be invited to take part in each demonstration, using each tool in turn and gaining hands-on experience of using the equipment. There will be plenty of time during the day to practice so you will leave the course with the skills to produce your own pictures at home. Please bring a photograph measuring 6inch x 8inch to frame during the course. Alternatively, if you prefer, you can choose a stock photo from those I have available when you arrive. Course content: The planning stage (part A) the measurement, size and dimension’s The planning stage (part B) the esoteric – ambience, style, colour and mood Know the key elements of a framed picture Using a specialist mountcutter tool learn how to cut the mount and use for the mounting of a picture Accurately cutting the four sections of the picture frame moulding Joining the moulding sections to create the frame The basic ways of attaching a picture to the mount How to cut glass to your required size Cutting and fitting the backing board and assembling the framed picture Sealing the back of the picture with tape and adding a hanging cord Learn More Contact me For dates Canvas Floating Frame Course Time 10am – 4pm Cost £160 This training course is designed for people who would like to learn how to make floating frames for canvas pictures that have already been stretched over a wooden stretcher frame. The tray frames are designed to have a 3mm shadow gap between the canvas and the frame. This gap will give the impression that the canvas is floating inside the frame. On this course you will learn how to: Measure your picture and fill out a worksheet plan. Transfer the measurements onto the tray frame. Mitre cut the tray frame Glue and V-Nail the tray frame. Advice on additional steps on painting the frame. Assemble the frame to complete your picture.
